-(s)-standard class hotel Mobil-4 stars Ohg-superior first class Star rating-4 stars
Originally a 14th century palazzo, the Hotel Bernini is located in Florence's historic centre, right behind Piazza della Signoria - just a stone's throw from the Uffizi and Florence's main historical attractions. Built according to the classic Florentine architectural style, with string-course cornices along the walls and wooden shutters giving it a charming antique flavour. Paintings and antique prints create a warm, sumptuous atmosphere. Towards the middle of the 19th century, this building, infused with a magical Medici atmosphere, housed the plush "Albergo dello Scudo". Between 1865 and 1870 it was the seat of the Parliament of the young Kingdom of Italy. After this prestigious interlude, the name of the hotel was changed several times, once even housing the famous Doney restaurant. The 78 rooms, including the suites, are fitted out with the best, most up-to-date mod-cons. A full breakfast is served in the magnificent Sala Corsini (complete with a splendid frescoed ceiling) formerly a meeting place for members of Parliament and senators of the Kingdom of Italy. The elegant bar offers high-class drinks as well as a wide range of cocktails.
SOME OF THE FAMOUS GUESTS OF THE HOTEL: Marcello Mastroianni, George Clooney, Winona Ryder, Claudia Schiffer, Pedro Almodovar.
